A common condition a new mother can see with her new infant, is called baby acne. Tho it may look strange, and you make feel the need to act on it, baby acne is harmless and should not be a concern for the mother.

Don’t be confused, when some babies are born, have small reddish bumps on they baby’s face. No, this not baby acne, rather “milia”, which disappears in a weeks. Yet, the acne mostly will appear around that same 2 week period, then show itself as tiny white heads, irritated skin on the baby’s cheeks, forehead, chin and possibly the back.

With teenagers & adults, acne is due to hormones and very oily skin. In some ways, it is true with infants also, because hormones are transmitted from the placenta, which is often the reason for the spots. But, science does not have a real idea for the cause, and generally no treatment for the period of time a child will have baby acne.

Please do not try home remedies: oils and creams, they may further irritate the skin. Just remember, nothing is needed more than cleaning the face one time a day with baby soap. When the baby acne gets worse and does not go away, it is possible for your doctor to give you a cream or different medication. There is also a possibility that the mother may be taking medication that would cause the baby acne.
